07.31.21 Eureka to Ukiah
Spent a little time in Eureka this morning before I hit the road. Saw the coolest slide set up ever, found a book I was looking for and got to enjoy a bagel.
Headed off to Ferndale to check it out. Spent some time walking around downtown. Then headed out to the coast and the north end of the Lost Coast.
Then I worked my way down to Humboldt Redwoods State Park to drive the Avenue of Giants. Highly recommend doing it if you are heading north or south on Hwy 101. I also made a side trip over to Honeydew which is on the south end of the road to the Lost Coast. Didn’t find what I was looking for, but it was a beautiful drive.
I then headed down the road to hook up with Hwy 1. Drove down to Fort Bragg, only to discover it was going to cost close to $400 for the night if I tried to stay in town. All the campgrounds are full. So I found something cheaper in Ukiah, so made the drive back to 101. I’ll head back to 1 in the morning.
